Voting record: How the Practical Progressives split and came together on different issues

These are the records of the Practical Progressives discussion group, which was set up in 2023 – when some of the Dorset Humanists felt the main group was becoming too right wing, emphasising Culture Wars and immigration issues that separate people into conflicting, stereotyped groups.

As the title suggests, it was left of centre but focused on reforms which would be practical and positive – within the constraints of the British political system and the media environment. We were acutely aware that idealistic programmes and revolutions in the past have often produced extremely negative results!

A couple of days after each meeting, the participants were circulated a list of questions to which they could reply Yes, No or N/A: Maybe. Often the Maybe answers implied that the question posed was too simplistic for any clear choice.

Each month we will be posting the results of one of those votes on this page.
